I have fallen madly and deeply for some of the J2 AU fic out there. Sculptors, doctors, spies, piano players..

And there is one in particular that is sublime and my favourite so far and which has ..um ... a kid in it.

There are support groups for this, right???

Okay, J2 refers to the Real Person Slash(RPS) that is a HUGE part of the Superntaural fandom. It comes from the fact that the two actors' first names both start with J (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles). Some wag came up with J Squared, I think, and then it got shortened to J2. I've never seen such a phenomenon before in a fandom, and to be honest, most RPS makes me uncomfortable and reads like a restraining order waiting to happen. It seemed to get a lot of fuel, let's say, when Jensen Ackles moved in with Jared Padalecki in Vancouver where SPN is filmed, and in the way they are very affectionate and open about how close they are. (They also seem to enjoy playing up to it TO THE HILT at the various cons they attend:))

Having said that, some of the AU fic out there is WONDERFUL. Like in Pros, where the lads are turned into trapeze artists and birdwatchers, there are a whole host of great writers turning Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki into doctors, sculptors, spies and piano players.
